Bangladesh Scouts' Response towards Cycle Yaas Affected Regions
During late May 2021, around 2,570 houses of Cox's Bazar were damaged and 1.5 million people were directly affected by the storm triggered by cyclone "Yaas" that weakened into a deep depression over India's north Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand.
Bangladesh Scouts immediately responded to minimize casualties.
Naval Rover crews worked with the local administration and helped rescuing the flood-hit villages like Kanai Nagar, Chila, Vidyarbahan and Digraj, alerting the people, taking them to the nearest cyclone shelter and distributing food.
