Baden-Powell Contemplation Night has become a custom in my Clan. It is held every February 22nd. Members are gathered and formed in a circle, accompanied by lit candles to illuminate the night atmosphere and add to the solemnity of contemplation. Baden-Powell's life story and last message were read sequentially by the Chairman and 'Pemangku Adat', followed by interpretation and reflection by all members, in memory of Baden-Powell's services and how he formed scouting that continues to this day. The reflection was closed with a prayer and chanting of the Scout Hymn song. The participants disbanded, closing the night by soaking up the reflection, to wake up again the next morning with hopes of increasing enthusiasm. Last night was a day of remembrance, but Baden-Powell's messages will always be remembered.
