Australian Scouts light up the world
Scouts and Joeys from Lake Burley Griffin Sea Scouts in Canberra, Australia recently completed putting together a number of SolarBuddy solar light units as a Messengers of Peace project. The solar lights will provide renewable lighting to up to 150 people once distributed across the Asia-Pacific region.
Renewable energy to provide lighting can also provide significant health benefits through reduced exposure to smoke and fumes from burners, allow children to work towards a better education and contribute to sustainable communities - all part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Just a small way Scouts can contribute to a better world!
