The first Air Scout patrol was established in the Victoria Institution in 1951 and ceased to exist in 1955. The 10th Kuala Lumpur Group in the Methodist Boys School. was established in 1915, converted to Air Scouts in 1952 and remains active. Air Scouts Troops exist in most of the state in Malaysia.
Air Scouts follow the same basic Scouting programme as normal Scouts, but they devote certain amounts of time focused on their air activities.
A newly revamped air scout programme consists of eight core domains with the aviation thrust. The eight domains are: Principles of Flights, Aerospace Operations, Meteorology, Aero Engine, Practical Skills, Navigation, Air Traffic Control & Communications and Flight Safety & Airmanship.
