Activities of Scouts go Solar in the first half of 2017

Below, you can find, which solar activities took place during the first half of the year. Thank you for everyone, who helped spreading Scouts go Solar and who taught various age or target groups, how to use solar energy for themselves, their community and the environment! We could not do it without you! January SGS Module at the INLC 70th Jamboree on the Philippines From the 11th to the 15th of January, Scouts from Ilocos Norte Laoag City Council were having Scouts go Solar activities at Currimao, Ilocos Norte. It was there, where the funny "Solar Sumo" was introduced to around 1,300 young Scouts from the elementary level for the very first time. First Scouts go Solar activities for Nepal Scouts On the 27th of January, Nepal had its first Scouts go Solar activity at the Science Exhibition of Arunima Educational Foundation, where 40 science projects in total were presented by several schools. On the 28th of January, 226 pupils from different schools, guardians and teachers were introduced to Scouts go Solar at Baudha. February Scouts go Solar workshop on World Scouts’ Day in Pakistan The District Boy Scouts Association Jacobabad Sindh Pakistan was realising a workshop at the Government Hamidia High School Jacobabad. Mr. Abdullah Ghunio was in charged to inform 64 Scouts and 8 leaders. New Scout Leaders learn about Scouts go Solar on the Philippines On the Philippines, Scout go Solar is actively being introduce to the new leaders in Scouting. More and more Scout leaders are joining us to distribute the usage of solar energy on a big and small scale to Scouts of different ages. Thank you for joining our global community and being part of Scout go Solar! March Scouts go Solar at Break Free 2017 event on the Philippines On the 25th of March, the Brighton Venturers' Scouts Go Solar Team was setting up an information stand (photo Mr. Bernando Guinto De Leon). Together with Greenpeace Philippines, they were using the global Break Free 2017 event, which was promoting renewable energies at Quezon City to show solar equipment. The team presented a solar cooker, solar suitcase, solar gadgets, solar fountain and solar showers. Scouts go Solar Workshops in Malaysia In partnership, the Penang Teacher Training Institute and school SMK Teloi Kanan were holding Scouts go Solar workshop in March of this year. Teenage boys and girls were experiencing the power of solar energy. Scout go Solar Activities for the young on the Philippines Many young children were participating in Scouts go solar activities in the province of Batangas on the Philippines. Additonally, at the 18th Provincial Scout Jamboree in the Halili National Agrucultural School, Sta. Maria in Bulacan, many young children were experiencing several solar activities with great enthusiasm. One important issue was to teach them about safety measurements for playing with the sun. April Fast internet through solar energy in the Czech Republic Since April 2017, the internet connection at the Kaprálův Mlẏn Scout Centre in the Czech Republic is 100% dependent on solar energy. According to the Solar Ambassador Michal Medek, their download is now 2,5 times faster and their upload 100 times more efficient than before. The Czech Scouts also have had several activities on solar energy, where children could compare different types of panels and learn about the best usage of solar panels through considering the angle. Brighton Venturers' Scouts go Solar Team spreads the knowledge further on the Philippines From the 21st to the 24th of April 2015, the Brighton Venturers' Scouts go Solar Team introduced solar energy to the Manila Council Scouts during their Summer Camp in Taysan, Batangas. The team presented a solar cooker, a solar suitcase, solar gadgets, a sundial, a solar fountain and a solar shower. 1st Solar Camp in Malaysia During the first Solar Camp from the 29th to the 30th of April, the Sarawak Branch of the Scouts Association of Malaysia made it possible for their Scouts to experience solar energy themselves. They were cooking with solar cookers and also building solar art and running solar cars and planes. May The Brighton Venturers' Scouts go Solar Team in Perpetual Biñan, Philippines On the 22nd of May 2017, the Brighton Venturers' Scouts go Solar Team conducted a Solar Roadshow in Perpetual Biñan, Laguna. Through the activities, Scouts were able to understand the usage of solar cookers and the solar suitcases. They could also get to know several solar gadgets such as solar flashlights, radios, toys, sundials, fountains and showers. July Scouts go Solar Activities in Luxemburg In July, solar activities were taking place, where around 30 Scouts from 6 to 18 years were given the chance to receive the Scouts go Solar Badge. Additionally, several solar workshops and a «naturegames» weekend was realised, where gadgets such as solar torches were built. Scouts go Solar Activities in Denmark On the 22nd of July, the Danish Scouts go Solar team attended the Danish National Jamboree. Over 40’000 Scouts were arriving and could borrow a solar panel for powering their lights, radios or cooler boxes. 3rd Scout go Solar Activities in Afghanistan On the 28th of July, the Afghan Scouts Association conducted their 3rd Scout go Solar Activities (Roadshow) for 120 non- Scouts. Many different solar games were demonstrating the power of the sun. The Afghan Scouts Association was also displaying and using an impressive solar cooker.
