Healthy Habits Bingo

Learning Objectives

  • Identify and recognise different healthy habits.
  • Encourage participants to practice and adopt healthy behaviours.
  • Promote engagement and motivation in maintaining healthy habits.

Instructions

-    Create bingo cards with squares representing various healthy habits such as drinking water, brushing teeth, eating fruits, getting enough sleep, etc. Create the cards all together, make it into a whole and quick activity, encourage them to ask their parents or guardians about their own healthy habits (this activity can be used in every age, just make sure to adapt the healthy habits! The older they get, the more specific the habits need to be).
-    Distribute bingo cards to each child and explain the rules of the game.
-    Encourage children to complete a row or column on their bingo card by practicing the healthy habits listed in the squares.
-    Throughout the week, remind children to mark off the squares as they complete each healthy habit.
-    At the end of the week, gather the children together to discuss their experiences and accomplishments.

Debrief

-    Start the debrief by asking  participants to share their favourite healthy habit they practiced during the week.
-    Guide the conversation towards the importance of each healthy habit and its impact on their overall well.
-    Use open-ended questions to prompt reflection and critical thinking, such as:

  • Which healthy habit was the easiest for you to practice? Which one was the most challenging?
  • How did practicing these healthy habits make you feel?
  • Did you notice any changes in your energy levels or mood throughout the week?

-    Reinforce the idea that practicing healthy habits is important for staying healthy and feeling good.
-    Celebrate their achievements and encourage them to continue practicing healthy behaviours.
