
Youth Take Charge - Asia - Pacific Growth Seminar 2019
A series of Asia-Pacific Regional meeting on membership growth was organized on 16th to 20th of August 2019 at YMCA, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This event was the first Asia-Pacific event that was fully organized by youths from Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia. The event was divided into two (2) major event: APR Key Leader Meeting on Membership Growth on 16th to 17th August and the main event is the Asia-Pacific Growth Seminar 2019 which was held on 18th to 20th August 2019. The first event gathers the 5 APR Key Leaders which includes Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Phillipines and India to discusss and brainstorming the key points and ideas to bring it to the event stated in the latter.
A total of 28 participants from 19 countries from the Asia-Pacific Region attended this seminar where they will review and formulate the latest growth stratergies to fulfill the Asia-Pacific Region's target for membership growth from 2019 to 2021. This seminar also allows the appointed National Membership Growth Coordinator to identify their NSOs needs in order for them to continue growing. The participants share challenges faced by their NSOs on membership growth and membership retention, best practices by few NSOs on membership growth and registration system.
As previously mentioned, Asia-Pacific Growth Seminar 2019 was conducted by a total of 14 young people from Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia which fulfilled their duty as secretariat or seminar staff during the event. This amazing feat was monitored and adviced by the Director of Asia-Pacific Growth Seminar 2019, Dr. Haji Mohd Azlan Bin Ab Jalil. This shows that young people play an important role in society and have the capabilities in managing this international level event. It is a good initiative to expose young people to take charge and lead huge and high impact program and prove that they can make positive changes in society.
