Wreaths Across America - National Cemetery Alaska

We wanted to partner with Wreaths Across America to help our scouts remember those you have sacrificed so much for them and the selfless service that they embodied. It is a tangible reminder of the heritage that is an integral aspect of our Pack's origins and community.
We coordinated with Wreaths Across America to have volunteers present at Fort Richardson National Cemetery in Alaska to lay wreaths on every grave. Our pack was present for at least two hours to participate in the ceremony and placing of the wreaths on the graves.
The scouts learned how people from all parts of our community have served their country and state. In some cases making the ultimate sacrifice for their nation. To see family members of those buried there present for the ceremony was a tangible lesson for the scouts of service and sacrifice. Walking among the gravestones and reading the names and dates of those that served was another lesson in the long history of service from people in all walks of life, communities, and social groups.
