Cubs packs from Warner's Bay, Teralba, Rathmines, Belmont & Valentine who belong to the Lake Macquarie District in the Hunter & Coastal Region of NSW joined together to earn their Messenger of Peace Bade. We decided that we would run a Winter Food Drive with all food to be donated to the local Samaritans. We were lucky that one of the Scout Leaders from Warner's Bay is the manger of Samaritans Newcastle. Approx. 95 Cubs & 20 Cub Leaders collected non-perishable food for 2 months & then we all came together on June 22nd to hand our food over to the Samaritans. We were thrilled with our activity as we collected over 400 items of food. Samaritans were very excited as they told us this food would help many families through our winter.
