Western Division Scouts Leadership Workshop

This project was inspired by the need to empower youth to take action on issues such as climate change, disaster preparedness, and peacebuilding, in line with Scouts for SDGs and Messengers of Peace. As Scouts, we wanted to equip young leaders with knowledge and skills so they can create positive change and build resilience within their communities.

The project was carried out through a youth-led workshop involving 40 youth leaders from Western Division schools under the Global Youth Mobilization initiative. Coordinated by the National MoP Coordinator with support from NDRMO and the Fiji Meteorological Service, the programme focused on SDGs, MoP, disaster preparedness, peacebuilding, and youth leadership, equipping participants to lead community awareness and resilience activities.

Through this project, I learned the importance of youth leadership, collaboration, and community engagement in driving sustainable development and peacebuilding. I gained practical insights into disaster risk reduction, climate action, and the application of the SDGs within Scouting. The project also reinforced the value of peer-to-peer learning, effective coordination with stakeholders, and youth empowerment in creating meaningful and lasting community impact.
