Water Source Cleaning

'Nature for water' was the theme for this year's world water day, on 22nd march. On 24th March, we went to clean the water source of Tshimalakha, Tshimakoti and Tshimakha village under Bjabcho Gewog, which is located nearly 2 hours journey from Chukha central school. We were joined by Dzongkhag municipal officials, Environment officials and junior campus students. Around 50 active and enthusiastic volunteers cleaned water filter, drain, pool, tank and cleared bushes near by the source. It took more than two hours to complete the works.
Water is one important component on this earth besides air, fire and soil. Although two third of the earth is surrounded by water but there are countries with acute shortage of safe drinking water and striving for clean water.
We are blessed, as water is the main source of Revenue generation in our country besides drinking. It’s very important to keep and maintain water source clean in all times. Educators can help in advocating and reminding youth and people on importance of keeping water source clean. After cleaning the water source, we went to Tshimakha lhakhang and cleaned around the lhakhang about an hour. There we were served tea and momo by Chhukha Dzongkhag administration.
We were satisfied with our work and carried enormous happiness while returning.
