WATER GUARDIAN

I've always felt a deep connection to the ocean, it’s where I feel most at peace. Growing up in a family that values and respects the sea, I learned early on the importance of caring for nature. Returning to the beach and seeing it filled with trash was heartbreaking, but it reminded me why taking action matters. As a Scout, I believe change begins with us. This cleanup, with the support of my family, was my way of protecting what I love and inspiring others to do the same.

To celebrate World Oceans Day, I organized a beach cleanup at the Crespo Breakwater in Cartagena on June 7 and 8, together with my family, who supported me throughout the activity. We collected a large amount of plastic waste, wrappers, and other trash left behind by beachgoers. This experience was part of my involvement in the Plastic Tide Turners Challenge, the Ocean Badge, and the Water Badge.

Cleaning the beach opened my eyes to how much unnoticed waste harms the ocean. Even small items can make a big impact. Through this experience, I learned that simple actions raise awareness and inspire change. Working with my family showed me the power of teamwork, responsibility, and care for nature. True change begins with small, meaningful steps.
