WALK THE TALK 'Redude Salt, Beat NCDs'

Walk the Talk program was done sometime in the month of June (18th) 2022. This program was observed throughout Bhutan. The event created some awareness among the high 'salt' consumers and was basically to encourage people to take less amount of salt as it triggers NCDs, especially hypertension. The participants were from classes VII-X. Community people, police, and local government leaders participated in the day-long program. Approximately the participants walked 8 Kms in more than an hour.
The program was conducted at Wanakha middle secondary school, in Bhutan. With the support from Bhutan Trust Fund, the program was conducted successfully for a day long. T-Shirts and slogans were supported by the Bhutan Trust Fund.
As the event was more of an advocacy for low consumption of salt. it created awareness among the students, teachers, community, local govt heads and police. More than 300 participants were benefited from this event.
Always target for more participants may be 500 participants. Seek support from other stakeholders and make it inclusive.
