Volunteerism at Construction at Buddhist Retreat

The monastic body at Pegiree (Retreat Center) has started constructing meditation centers for 20 meditators beginning this year. The construction work was given to the contractors and the raw materials has to be managed by the Monastic body at the construction site. We felt the need to contribute to the project as the monastic body was running short of labour.
Khasadrapchu Middle Secondary School, with 3 Scout Leaders together with 5 Scout Members carried out voluntary work for a day. The work at the site includes carrying stones, sand and timbers to the construction site.
The coordinator was extremely elated with the contribution of labour at the construction site as there were others who also came forward in reaching raw materials at the spot. The construction work could continue without having to wait for the raw materials.
The sense of voluntarism were seen in the faces of all the volunteers, they were carrying out the work without having to instruct them to do this and that. The spirit of helping, supporting and caring were felt by everybody at the construction site.
