Voluntary Work at Swela Goenpa

My motivation was to preserve our culture and traditions for future generations while contributing to the well-being of the community. I believe that protecting our cultural heritage is a meaningful way to show respect for our ancestors, maintain our identity, and pass on valuable traditions. Through this service, I also hoped to accumulate good deeds, practise kindness, and create lasting benefits for myself and the community.

On Day 7 of Camp Sewla, we carried out a service activity at Sewla Goenpa in Punakha Dzongkhag. Our main task was to transport stone slabs to the designated site, with each student assigned a target of 22 slabs. By lunchtime, we had successfully transported a total of 1,100 stone slabs. This activity helped us develop teamwork, discipline, and a sense of responsibility while strengthening our coordination, confidence, and leadership skills.

Through this experience, I learned valuable lessons in team building, leadership, and time management. I also understood the importance of cooperation, dedication, and working together to achieve a common goal.

I learned about resilience, teamwork, and the importance of preserving our culture and traditions. I also gained a deeper understanding of Swela Goenpa, its cultural and spiritual significance, and the importance of protecting our heritage for future generations. This experience taught me patience, cooperation, and the value of working together to preserve our traditions and contribute positively to the community.
