Usaha and Maju Badge Camp - 7th Fort and C Fort

The Scouts of 7th Fort and C Fort gathered at Seaferers Restaurant, Melaka (our base of operations) to set up camp. We began by unloading our tents and pitching them up at the side to make way for activities. Then we began to prepare a simple flagpole for our troop flag, the WOSM flag and a special flag of our visitor, Linda from Scouts Canada and Charles from the BSA. We had a very simple camp itinerary in order to achieve the maximum amount of major activities possible. This started with a basic cooking session by the scouts to get the Cooking badge as well as a simple camp craft session to complete their knots and pioneering tests. The 2nd day was the highlight of the camp where we kayaked to Pulau Upeh to do some community service to clean up the island. Since the island is used mainly for turtle rehabilitation, we do our part to make sure the beach and main parts of the island stay clean. Here, some open water swimming was done as a test of water confidence and swimming while fishing is also done for them to try and achieve their Fishermans badge. Sadly, no fish was caught that day. However, on the island, we climbed coconut trees to complete their tests as well as collect some fresh coconuts for their water as a drink on a hot sunny afternoon. The final day ended with some community service at the nearby beach by the campsite as well as final cleaning up of the site for our Scout Den.
