Uplift the Elderly During the Holidays

Cub scouts helped plan a community project, decided details to uplift some of those who are going through loss or loneliness during the holidays, focusing mainly on the elderly in our neighborhood. We have several members in our community who have lost a spouse or loved one this past year. Since it's Christmas time, the boys decided to make treats, ornaments, decided on and practiced carols to sing, and figure out which homes to visit, so we could have everything ready when we visit homes on the 11th of December.

The plan was to bring some smiles to those who need it, let them know that we are thinking of them, and care about them.

It was about a hundred total service hours dedicated to this project, so I don't know about the set hours I can't change. These boys are Cub Scouts. I'm assuming they aren't required to do that many hours for a Messagers of Peace project.

They did a phenomenal job. I wish I took a video of them holding each others shoulders and swaying while singing Christmas carols. We had several people crying and thanking us for thinking of them and remembering them. There were a lot of hugs and a lot of grateful hearts.
