TREE PLANTING IN KIBIKO FOREST
AS THEY SAY, THE BEST TIME TO PLANT A TREE WAS 20 YEARS AGO AND THE SECOND BEST TIME IS NOW. FOR HE WHO PLANTS TREES LOVES OTHERS BESIDES HIMSELF.
THE TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY WAS ORGANISED BY THE KENYA FOREST SERVICE TO PRESERVE KIBIKO FOREST. KIBIKO FOREST IS SITUATED ABOUT 5KM FROM NGONG TOWN. THE PROJECT WAS INICIATED AND CONDUCTED BY THE KENA FOREST SERVICE IN CONJUCTION WITH THE KENYA DEFENCE FORCES. TEAMS PRESENT WERE, KENYA ARMY, KENYA NAVY, KENYA PRIOSN SERVICE, KENYA FOREST SERVICE, WRUA AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE KAJIADO COUNTY COUNCIL. THE TREE PLANTING WAS SUCCESSFUL AND WE MANAGED TO TEACH THE COMMUNITY ON IMPORTANCE OF A LARGER FOREST COVER AND OF PRESERVING TREES.
WE MANAGED TO PLANT OVER 15,000 SEEDLINGS.
