Tree Planting Activity in "Kaingin" Site at San Marcelino, Zambales
On the last day of the service activity of Eugenio Lopez Jr. Center for Media Arts-SHS Rover Scouts, there was a tree planting activity joined by the faculty, boy scouts, girl scouts and parents of Sta. Fe O-It Elementary School. The tree planting area was chosen because it was a denuded area, as a result of ocassional "kaingin" or the illegal slash-burn method which abruptly kills any plants and trees in the area for the preparation for farming crops.
Agoho (Casuarina equisetefolia) where used to reforest the area, becauase it is a native and indigenous plant in Zambales. Seedlings were acquired through the coordination with the City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) -Olongapo.
