Tree Planting

Tree Planting

In marking this years World Environmental Day, Rover Scouts in Nairobi joined members of the Gatharaini Water Resource Users Association (WRUA) and several environmental clubs and community based organizations to plant trees along the banks of River Gatharaini which is a tributary of River Nairobi. The area around the river was initially a dump site for traders in the Githurai 44 area but it is gradually being reclaimed into a public park. The participants also took that opportunity raise awareness to private investors setting up residential and trading premises near the river to come up with ways to reduce pollution; since a large amount of waste is directed into the river.
