Tree Plantation to commemorate the Coronation of the Fourth King of Bhutan
In Bhutan, 2nd June is celebrated as the Social Forestry Day to commemorate the Coronation day of the Fourth King of Bhutan Jigme Singye Wangchuck (2nd June 1974). The constitution of Bhutan mandates to keep at least 60% forest coverage in the country at all times to come.
On this day, people in the country actively dedicate in planting tree saplings, cleaning campaign and many other activities related to environment conservation (One of the four pillars of GNH). The offices and businesses remain closed on the day and participate in the generous program.
Daliphangma Primary School, located in the Eastern Bhutan joined the nation in planting about 200 tree saplings. The Nachung scouts (Cub scouts) and the community-based scouts (CBS) planted more than 100 blue pine saplings, about 20 Jacaranda saplings, and many other fruit and tree saplings. The scouts also dedicated few hours in the farm road maintenance of the community. We as scouts and responsible people of this country and World will always contribute for the well being oof everyone.
Thank You!
