Tree basins for local cemetery

Tree basins for local cemetery

Cub Scout Pack 307 of the High Mountain District of the Rocky Mountain Council wanted to do a conservation project in recognition of both Earth Day & Arbor Day 2013. We worked with Marilyn Loser of the Alamosa Tree Board to plan a project on behalf of the Alamosa Cemetery. We were joined by members of both Troop 307 and Crew 307, and together, we dug out basins for 57 trees along the road leading into the cemetery. We then filled in the basins with mulch to help retain water, and prevent evaporation. This should help the trees to withstand the near drought conditions we've experienced for the last few years.
