Traffic Week Activities

On Jul 29 2018 a road accident that led to the death of two students from Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College triggered a protest movement that spread from the capital to across the country. Students, with a list of nine demands, took to the streets and began to check driver’s licenses and vehicle documents on the roads in the place of police. The protests revealed that several law enforcement agencies and lawmakers were violating traffic rules. In response, police announced the start of Traffic Week. Rover scouts under Bangladesh Scouts along with law enforcement agencies have tried to raise awareness among pedestrians and drivers through public announcements, posters, leaflets and stickers.
