Tide Turners Plastic Challenge
"Be a part the solution, not part of the pollution" How I wish I can turn back time. Time where there is no global warming. When there is no climate change. When there is no rampant pollution across the globe. After my webinar on Tide Turners Plastic Challenge, I was inspired and decided to be part of the solution on stopping and lessening the use of single use plastics. I want my children to live a healthy life to a healthy planet.
I cascaded the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge onto my family. I shared the knowledge I got from the webinar to my wife and children. Here, we decided to reduce the use of single use plastics by recycling and limiting purchasing of it. Afterwards, I got the opportunity to conduct a seminar workshop to my fellow faculty so that the challenge does not stop with me. I encouraged them to do plastic recycling and think of its negative effects. I also tell them to have this challenge to their students.
Before I share the TTPC to my family, I noticed that we have been contributing alot to the water pollution. We consume a lot of single use plastics, including straws and diapers for our babies. After I learned about the effects of plastics through the TTPC, we decided to reduce, reuse and recycle these plastics. We have at least reduce our consumption of plastics by 30% per month. Aside from that, the school's plastic waste was also reduced after my seminar workshop with the teachers & students.
If I will not share this TTPC to my colleagues and scouts, and we continue to use these single use plastics, I believe that we wont last in this dying world. This is an herculean task to reduce the plastic usage all over the world. But I believe that advocating this TTPC will surely create a ripple effect, slowly one by one, everyone will be encouraged to help fight the marine pollution for the betterment of the community,
