Tide Turners Plastic Challenge
Awareness On Tide Turner Plastic Challenge for all schools under Wangdue phodrang Dzongkhag
The Dzongkhag Scout Association has carried out mass awareness for the Tide Turner Plastic Challenge campaign for all schools under Wangdue Phodrang Dezongkhag . The awareness program got started from Nobding LSS lead by Mr. Tobgay, DSA Secretary for the 15 school leaders and Mr Norbu has conducted awareness for the rest school principal at Singye Namgyel Primary School.
The awareness for the schools are initiated and coordinated by the school scout clubs with aims and objectives; creating a new movement of young people across the school, community, Dzongkhag and across the world who will be committing to take action to reduce plastic waste in their lives, at school, and within the community.
The awareness program included talk on waste management, the Good Practices of Waste Management and 4Rs of waste management practices to keep their school and community clean, green, beautiful and preservation of our rich flora and fauna.
The schools decided to coordinate periodic cleaning campaign and following 4Rs of waste management practices, observe Zero Waste Hour once in a month and minimize open air burning and dumping.
To fulfill His Majesty's vision of the place where we live should be clean, green and safe.
It will help in information dissemination on TTPC initiated by BSA/ scouts
It will reduce the waste going to landfill in urban areas and large holes/pit in a rural school.
It will ensure the conservation of the environment by the practice of 4 R's.
It will save the environment, money and improve the health of the students and people, thereby contributing meaningfully to the Gross National Happiness.
