Sustainable Water for Peaceful Communities

We decided to conduct a project called "Water for Peace" because we realized that there is no access to safe drinking water in our community. Clean water is a basic need for a healthy life and a catalyst for uniting people. By valuing and protecting this precious resource, we can help to reduce conflict, and promote cooperation and a peaceful and healthy community. Edit

We also identified problem areas in the water system. Together with local leaders, volunteers and locals, the water tanks were cleaned, the pipes were repaired and improvements were made to the water distribution in the community. Information campaigns on water conservation and the proper use of the shared water source were also undertaken. The work has been a unifying force, improving water supply and improving social cohesion through cooperation.

Through the "Water for Peace" project we learned that to cooperate on community problems is very important. We understood that everybody must conserve water and improve its quality because small efforts possibly make a big difference. The project did make us realize people's cooperation for a good cause creates peace, harmony, and a clean environment.
