Supporting the voiceless

Since my early childhood, I have been very attached to animals. I have tried to be warm and affectionate towards them.
As such, in my community in Mirpur of Dhaka city in Bangladesh; there are often street dogs that are taunted, tortured by other others.

I often try to rescue dogs from this distress. As a part of this particular project, I rescued a mother dog with 3 of her puppies and placed them in a nearby orphanage where the local boys take care of the dogs. As the orphanage is only a minute away from my house, I go to feed them every day.

I have also coordinated with an elder brother and his son to provide medical aid and care to a wounded puppy. The dog was wounded when a three-wheeler taxi ran over its leg and left it on the road. My elder brother called me and I went to the designated spot with ointment and other medicines. Though the dog was initially very frightened, when I tended to it, it became more relaxed. After treating it with medicine, we also brought some food for the puppy and ensured that it had a good meal. I followed up on its well-being initially for 2 days. I often to even now to visit and chek up on it.
