Support Go green initiative

The intent behind the activity was to address the pollution related issues in the vicinity to avoid situation going from bad to worse in co-operation with go green club This activity was aimed at the following: 1. Garbage segregation and disposal 2. Avoid water pollution Observation: We are one of those fortunate who have a lake in the area we live allowing us to enjoy the beauty of nature through floral green, ground water level, cold breeze and so on. While enjoying such a beauty, the black spot to it was the foul smell that would be emanated as a result of the waste being dumped by the residents around without realizing of what this would result into. Hence our patrol took up this project for three Sundays where the residents around will be educated on the ill effects of their practices which in-turn would harm them the most. Preparation: 1. Discussed in our patrol-in-council followed by court-of-honor on service being planned. This was approved by our unit leader 2. Preparation of hand-outs that contains the do's, don'ts, ill effects of dumping waste into the lake and places around 3. Identification of residents who are friendly and co-operative to ensure that their responses do not demotivate us while encourages fellow residents to follow the suit 4. Preparation of pledge note to support the cause We started our activity on morning of 7th July 2013 the Sunday. We started visiting houses identified as part of our preparation where the following was executed Action: 1. Quick introduction of patrol members 2. Briefing on current situation allowing them to understand the reason behind foul smell and mosquito menace 3. Briefing on waste segregation and disposal mechanism along with the handout 4. Got the pledge note signed to provide them with a sense of responsibility 5. Requested them to spread the message in their circles irrespective of the area of living. This is because garbage segregation is a common issue to be addressed
