Stevens Creek Reservoir Creek Clean
From Shreyaan Gadia
My local community is affected by trash in creeks which can block water from passing and also polluting our ocean sooner or later.
It can also result in water quality degradation which is when trash, especially plastic, can break down into micro plastics over 100s of years, and harm wildlife and can even contaminate groundwater that we drink from. I am making a change for the positive by cleaning a creek so that we are not drinking plastic or pollute reservoir water.
Shreyaan Gadia, a Bear Cub Scout working towards Webelos participated in California coastal day for Stevens Creek reservoir clean up. He worked for 3 hours walking through trails and picking up trash around the picnic area and trail.
I learnt how to be safe while cleaning up trash in the creeks and picnic areas. I found plastic and diapers in the creek which pollutes it. This effects the environment for many generations as plastics don't decompose easily into soil. It also pollutes the riverbed and ocean, affecting fish and wildlife.
