Stay Cool, Stay Safe – 2025
As heatwaves become more frequent in Bangladesh due to climate change, many people remain unaware of how to prevent heat stroke. This project aimed to raise awareness about heat-related illnesses by educating the public on simple but life-saving precautions like staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun, and recognizing early symptoms.
Leaflets on heat stroke awareness were distributed in the New Eskaton area. The project was initiated by Samiur Rahman Khan, supported by two patrol leaders and a rover from Samatat Open Scout Group. The team educated passersby, rickshaw pullers, and shopkeepers on staying safe during extreme heat, encouraging them to drink water, rest in the shade, and recognize warning signs of heat stroke.
We learned that simple, timely information can make a big difference in saving lives. The project strengthened our communication and public engagement skills and emphasized the importance of proactive awareness in climate-related health issues. We also saw how community collaboration can enhance the impact of small-scale actions.
