SOLAR ENERGY EMPOWERMENT TRAINING -RUSAPE DISTRICT
Manicaland province has since become one of the target markets of solar equipment hence the need to educate communities so they can fully benefit from the trending renewable energy source. A lot of myths and misconception came along with the introduction of solar energy and many vendors (if not all) do not provide this education as part of their consumer support.
The project activity took place in Rusape (manicalnd Province) at St Josephs primary school where we arranged for a 3 day (Stay-In) intensive training with 20 participants from the community including the school staff.
We used the existing scouting structure to communicate information about this training and had permission from the local authorities and the provincial educational authorities. We then gathered resources and material for training together with the project team and went to execute.
About 600+ people benefited from this activity , through the 20 participants who are directly involved with young people in their professional line of work each day whom together pledged to design and implement solar educational activities at their institutions.
Solar education can improve livelihoods through capacity building and empowerment in our communities.
Teaching new concepts can be difficult hence requires a well thought preparation and good research. One needs to always be upto date with the solar technology to offer relevant education to participants.
