Small Hands, Deep Roots

This project seeks to empower youth to combat local deforestation. The motivation was two-fold: to reduce the environmental footprint of our community through recycling and composting, and to actively contribute to the recovery of degraded areas using native species, ensuring a more sustainable future for the next generation
Our Cub Scout Pack developed a comprehensive environmental restoration project. We integrated waste management with biodiversity conservation by growing native trees in recycled containers and transplanting them to a deforested local area to promote ecosystem recovery.
This project empowered our Cub Scout Pack to take direct action for the planet by transforming everyday waste into a new forest. By repurposing long-life cartons as nurseries and using organic compost made from food scraps, the children learned the practical value of a circular economy. The journey from gathering native seeds to cleaning and restoring a degraded area taught them that they are active guardians of biodiversity.
