The Scouts from 1st Mhlaba implemented Food Gardens at the pre-school Siyaphambili in Boschfontein with 65 children. The pre-school was started with the need of seeing the struggle faced by parents who have to go to work and not knowing where to leave their children, so the school was provided with the basics. The school needs to take care of all this children and so there is a big need for nutritious meals at a low cost. So the Scouts from 1st Mhlaba started the Food Garden. They prepared and cleaned the area, bought the seedlings and made trench beds. After this was done they planted the seedlings. The gardener of the school also took some seedlings to plant them on another potential garden. The Scouts look after the watering of the garden so it is made sure that the garden are sustainable.
