Sharing Best Practices in Sustainability Day
One of the main things that I always feel that need to change in order for global warming and the rest of our environmental problems stop increasing is our unsustainable lifestyles. So I wanted to people to get to know how they can change their habits easily and share some best practices that they can start doing to help our planet!
I created this event online in the pandemic, open to any scout and non-scout. First I contacted some people, individuals and professionals from different sustainable companies so they could share ways to be sustainable in our daily routine and show us how they created sustainable projects that have a huge impact on the community. Then I announced the event "Sustainability Day" on social media and via e-mail marketing so that everyone could come to hear a pannel of speakers about sustainability.
More than 50 people benefited from this event since they came, learnt and kept some sustainable ideas to implement and use in their daily routines, some of them that I can now see. The motto of this event was "Small steps lead to big changes!"
I've learned that most of the people don't know that there are a lot of small things that they can easily change in their lifestyles that have a huge impact on the environment.
I've also learned that, in order to have a bigger impact, I have to innovate in the way I communicate my event, because it had 50 participants from all over Portugal, but it could had a lot more!
