Service for Pohela Baishakh at Ramna Batamul

Pohela Baishakh is the biggest festival of the Bengali people. It is the first day of the bengali calendar. The biggest and the main festival is held at Ramna Batamul. This program is being held since the 1660s and is recognized by UNESCO. Such a large program needs a lot of volunteers to ensure the safety of the visitors.

The project was implemented at Ramna Batamul. We were divided into several teams and we stood at the different entrances and provided help to visitors and journalists .
This program gets terrorist threats every year. We provided security for the visitors by blocking entry of unauthorised people in vulnerable areas and by checking for suspicious items and behaviour in the visitors. The program was enjoyed by more than 3000 people including VIP personnel and foreigners .

We learned many things about managing a big programs. We also got the opportunity to witness such a big cultural event from behind the scenes and learned a lot about our culture.
