Semana Santa First Aid Station
Since the holy week for Catholics has begun, it is a long-time tradition for Filipinos to sacrifice in various ways. Some share in the Lord's suffering by carrying a cross, hitting themselves while walking, and more. Since these traditions will be done under the extreme heat in the country, we had an idea to set up a first aid station in our town.
We started setting up the first aid station at around 7am. We had our materials ready such as our gloves, bandages, gauze pads, and many more. We also prepared water gallons for the people who pass by in case they need to hydrate. We assisted one of the people who was making the sacrifice by cooling down their body at our booth. They were experiencing heat exhaustion, so we hydrated them with water and allowed their body to cool down. We finished at around 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
We learned more of the importance of first aid particularly given how hot it is in our country during the summer.
