Scouts serve and show support as members of the local international community

80 Beavers, Cubs, Boy Scouts, Ventures and Rover Scouts from Kagawa Council showed up at the annual International Festival sponsored by the Kagawa Prefectural Government for a full day. The Scouts mingled and chatted with members of the community, and the Council sponsored a service booth where they talked about Scouting and its role in the community. The event coincided with the JOTA-JOTI Weekend. So, amateur radio equipment was brought in and the Kagawa Boy Scout Council Amateur Radio Club made contacts with people as far away as Uruguay. One the JOTI side of things, we made many, many contacts around the world. The highlight was a 30-minute Skype video chat with a group of Cub Scouts in Tasmania, Australia (the photo). The young scouts did all the communicating and shared messages of peace and international understand.
