Scouts & Seniors A Day of Laughter, Games & Fun!

My grandmother fell last year and had to go to a rehab facility to gain her strength back. Me and my son would go visit often and on Tuesday nights we would be in our Class A uniform ready for scouts. One of the residents there would wait outside just to talk to my son on our way in. Seeing him light up with joy by shaking hands with a scout was my motivation and the start of my vision.

I coordinated with a local assisted living facility in our area. I brought my idea and vision to my pack and was meet with several volunteers who wanted to participate. Together we came to the assisted living facility to spread joy and give back to our community. We started with a skit show, told jokes and sang songs. Then we played games together and even played a couple rounds of bingo. Together with the help from our pack we were also able to donate clothes and books for the seniors as well.

Sharing scouting traditions with our community and really having the scouts give back in a way that's still fun and intriguing to them was amazing to see and be a part of. This was a wonderful experience and it has shown me that no matter how small the scout they can really make a huge impact. It was my pleasure to work alongside these young scouts to really make the vision a success.
