Scouts for Safe Roads

Road accidents and traffic jams cause a lot of loss of life and suffering in our society every year. I feel that increasing public awareness and proper traffic control are essential to solve these problems. The main objective of this project was to make people more aware of road traffic and develop habit of obeying traffic rules. My motivation was to make the lives of the people of the society safer and improve the road system.

After starting the project we first formulated a plan to increase road awareness. Our team conducts awareness campaigns in various educational institutions, markets and important places on roads. Besides campaigning about road safety rules, we also helped in traffic control in coordination with other volunteer organizations. Besides, we encouraged pedestrians to obey traffic signals and deployed volunteers in accident-prone areas.

Directing this project gave me the opportunity to put Scouting's values of leadership, cooperation, and service into practice. Scouting's teachings have been particularly useful in quick decision-making and maintaining team cohesion in critical situations. Through this project, I truly realized the core ideal of Scouting to serve people.
