Scouts Overnight Rally
The 1st Saraswati- Dilkusha Scouts of Saraswati Primary School– Dilkusha held its School Based Camp for the year from September 5th-6th, 2014 with a total of 17 registered campers ranging from classes 7 – 8; and 2 Form 3 students of Saraswati College.
The camp registration started at 9 o’ clock on Friday morning. The scouts constructed their tents and constructed gadgets for the camp until 12 o’ clock noon. Scouts did the activities in their patrols. The activities started at 12.30pm after their lunch. The activities were:
- Coconut Husking and Scraping
- Finding the Direction
- Obstacle Course
- Billy Boiling
- Hiking
The camp fire was conducted at 7 o’clock in the evening. Our Camp Chief was the Education Officer from the Nausori Education Office, Mr. Marika Baleca. He stressed on the importance of Scouting as it teaches life skills. All scouts received a Certificate of Participation during the camp fire. Certificates of Merit were awarded to the best patrol for each activity. The day ended with Roasting of breadfruit around the camp fire. The scouts had tea with roasted breadfruit before they watched a movie until they doze off to sleep. Saturday’s programme began at 6 o’clock. The school facilities were properly cleaned before the scouts farewell each other after breakfast. We left the school compound at 9 o’clock on Saturday morning.
