SCOUTS GO SOLAR ACTIVITIES

The main objective of the Scouts Go Solar activities at Rover Moot was to raise awareness about solar energy, its applications, and its environmental benefits among the participating Scouts. The program aimed to empower Scouts to become advocates for sustainable energy solutions and encourage them to implement solar energy technologies in their communities.
Modelling and Assembling a Solar Water Heater: Participants were given the opportunity to model and assemble a solar water heater system. Through guided instructions, they learned about the components of a solar water heater, including the solar collector, storage tank, and circulation system. Scouts gained practical knowledge about how solar energy can be harnessed to heat water, reducing the need for conventional energy sources.
The Scouts Go Solar program aimed to educate and engage Scouts in learning about solar energy technologies, promoting sustainability, and fostering environmental consciousness. The activities included modeling and assembling a solar water heater, solar card games, and solar games such as the buzzer and Grasshopper race. The program successfully reached out to approximately 350-400 participants.
By actively engaging in solar-themed games and activities, Scouts developed a heightened environmental consciousness. They learned about the importance of renewable energy sources in reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change. This awareness can inspire Scouts to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives and advocate for environmentally friendly solutions.
