Scouts Against Malaria CHAMBO Scout Troop

Malaria continues to be one of the major health challenges affecting our community, especially children and pregnant women. As a Scout Leader at CHAMBO Scout Troop, I was motivated by the Scout promise to serve and protect life. Seeing repeated cases of malaria in our area convinced us to take action by educating the community, promoting prevention methods, and supporting ongoing health efforts. Our goal was to reduce malaria risks through youth-led community outreach.
The project was executed through coordinated community outreach activities led by trained scouts. We organized awareness sessions in the community, educated households on malaria prevention, and demonstrated the proper use of mosquito nets. Scouts worked closely with local health stakeholders and community leaders to ensure accurate information was shared. Activities were conducted in teams, documented with photos, and followed scouting safety and service guidelines.
We learned the importance of teamwork, clear communication, and community involvement in addressing health challenges, and how youth-led action can create real impact.
