“Scouting for Food” is the largest single-day food drive in the United States of America. On the first Saturday, our Cub Scout Pack left bags on nearly 3000 doors of houses in our neighborhood in Longwood, FL and requested the home owner fill up the bag with food. The following Saturday, we returned to each of the houses and picked up the bags of food. We collected so much food that it filled up a pickup truck and also the back of a mini-van. We estimate it was nearly 2000 pounds of food. The food was delivered to a dropoff location where our council helped distribute it to needy people across Central Florida.
