Sandton District : Spruit Day Service Project

The annual Spruit Day is a community initiative to clean up along the Braamfontein Spruit - a section of river that runs from Alberts Farm in Northcliff and ends in Paulshof, in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, South Africa.  Residents associations, schools, Scout Groups and organisations all along the spruit come together on this day to do their part in keeping their environment clean.

The 1st Bryanston Scout Group is partnering with the Bryanston East Community Forum to cean up the section of river and surrounding green belt near their Scout hall.  Apart from cleaning up litter and accumulated rubbish, the project will also focus on removing alien vegetation / bugweed growing along the river.  The Scout hall will be used as a local meeting point for residents in the Bryanston / River Club suburbs, who will aslo be assisting in the clean up.  Other Scout Groups in the Sandton District have also been invited to participate and support the initiative.
