Safer Streets

Road accidents are one of the most common phenomenons of Bangladesh. Reckless driving takes lives almost every day.

Me and my scout group arranged for a day long event promoting road safety. There was a human chain right outside our scout den compound. Scouts stood with placards and distributed flyers to all passerbys teaching them to use the footover bridge nearby when crossing the road, to wait for the traffic lights to turn red before crossing, to prevent jaywalking and use zebra crossing. At the end a one hour class was also held for the scouts. They were taught the importance of a having safe community and how they can contribute to the safety even by small actions such as throwing away banana peels lying on the roadside which can result in someone tripping.
