Rovers of the World united for Peace - International Rover Week Centenary Edition Summer 2018

Rovers of the World united for Peace - International Rover Week Centenary Edition Summer 2018

According to the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, in 2016 there were over 100’000 deaths related to organised violence in the World. The 16th Sustainable Development Goal of the UN is focused on Peace, Justice and Strong institutions. Peace building and peace education is a key element in achieving a more peaceful society. This projects aimed to contribute to international and multicultural dialogue through the Scout values, by bringing Rovers from all World Scout Regions together at the Permanent Mini-Jamboree, and by running a Scout programme based on international friendship, peacebuilding, and community service, including service hours for maintaining a UNESCO World Heritage site. From the 5th until the 14th of August 2018, we offered an empowering programme called the International Rover Centenary Week for 31 Rovers. We also celebrated the Rovers Centenary with festivities on the 12th of August 2018, inviting all Rover's currently staying at Kandersteg International Scout Centre as well as Rovers around Switzerland.
The amount of Service Hours are collected by the time our volunteer Staff spend preparing and organising the event, as well as the active Programme sessions which all participant took part in.
