On Wednesday 8th January 2014, approximately 80 Rovers from across Australia attended a Service Day at the East Perth Cemeteries and St Bartholomew’s Church within the City of Perth. It was organised as part of the 19th Australian Rover Moot, held from 30th December 2013 - 10th January 2014. The service at the cemeteries involved weeding around the heritage listed grave sites and doing a general tidy up of the property. All service performed around the site is done carefully to help preserve the historic value of grave sites. As the grave sites being maintained were all extremely delicate, all work done was by hand - the only tools used were wheelbarrows, rakes and gloves. The cemeteries site is approximately 4 hectares, and throughout one day of service, the Rovers covered at least half of the area. The Cemeteries Board were very thankful for the help the Rovers provided, as unfortunately they don't have many volunteers able to give up their time. All the Rovers who attended had a fun day helping to maintain historic graves and preserve history. Posted on behalf of WAM2014
