Every year we plant saplings on the occasion of Environment Day. But after that one day, we do very little to protect them. The 175th Wayanad Mafeking Rover Crew is protecting 78 saplings through Geo-tagging technology to solve this crisis. The current status, growth, availability of water for irrigation, etc. of the seedlings are being surveyed and monitored through graphical representation. 

On June 5, 2020, about 100 saplings were planted in Mananthavady, Kalpetta, Kottathara, and Dwarka, but due to adverse weather conditions and prolonged lock-down, we lost about 22 saplings.

We continued this practice this year also by planting about 250+ saplings at the Bharath Scout & Guides DHQ, Mananthavady near the banks of the Kabani river; at the roadsides, public spots, and at certain households also. Necessary steps were taken so that we could protect these saplings from adverse conditions and we plan to maintain these saplings till they reach mature growth.
