Road Safety in Rajshahi's Crowd

As the pre-Eid rush began, we saw the growing traffic congestion in Rajshahi’s markets, especially affecting the elderly. As Rover Scouts, we wanted to help. We coordinated with the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police to manage traffic and ensure safety. Soon, Red Crescent Volunteers joined us, and together we worked as a team to maintain order and assist vulnerable individuals during the busy period.

We set up small teams at key traffic points, where congestion was highest. The teams worked in shifts to ensure continuous coverage, managing traffic flow and assisting pedestrians, especially the elderly, throughout the day.

Our project created a noticeable difference in easing traffic congestion during the pre-Eid rush. Pedestrians, especially the elderly, felt safer crossing busy roads, and market-goers could move more freely. Shopkeepers and local residents appreciated the smoother flow of people and vehicles.

We learned the value of teamwork, coordination, and planning. Working with the police and Red Crescent Volunteers showed how collaboration can solve community issues. We also realized that small efforts, like assisting the elderly and managing traffic, can have a big impact.
