REUSING PLASTIC PAPERS

In Malawi, plastic papers are part of our lives and every time one goes to the market to buy anything else that person takes plastic paper home. These plastics cause a big damage to the environment as they are poorly managed. I thought of reusing them by filling soil in for fruit tree nursery garden. I ended up having many seedlings and I came up with a project of distributing them to primary schools and taught the students how they can manage plastics papers at home and school.
I told my scouts to keep a bag in their homes and every plastic paper they see around, they should throw it in. After two weeks scouts brought the bags almost full and then we selected plastic papers that were good enough to hold seedling. We looked for more fruit tree seeds and planted. We cared for them and they grew well. Then we though of distributing the seedlings to primary schools and the community and shared the knowledge on how we can best utilize the plastic papers around us.
All four primary school in our community they have fruits garden in their campus. In the near future students will have something to eat during their break time. Some of the community members had no fruit trees around their homes, but this project distributed free seedlings. It was a great move towards the environment as we carefully took a good step in reusing these plastic papers.
